Lexie's "Fancy Forest" and stars...

I have been in love with this pattern since it Elizabeth Hartman, of "Oh Fransson", created it.
My friend, Lexie, took the plunge, bought the kit, and made it!
It's even better in real life!

I had so much fun quilting it.
I wanted to quilt each character with straight lines...

These butterflies are so beautiful...

The bunny faces are chunky cute...

She threw in some thistles....love them!

You can create an entire quilt out of any of these cute characters.
The hedge hog might be my favorite - I don't know....

I swirl quilted the linen background which softened the quilt.

I'm so excited to get started on mine.
I'm collecting fabrics for it and making two smaller quilts for my granddaughters.
They both love animals - so this is perfect!

I've cut out the hedgehog.
Look how tiny these parts are - EEEE!
That's why it's listed as "advance piecing" level.
My background will be that sweet soft pink.

Lexie chose this fabulous Elizabeth Hartman extra wide backing - you can purchase it here, at Hawthorne Threads.

There were some leftover strips from the piecing so Lexie had me add a scrappy binding.

She also made this very cute giant star quilt.
It uses 16 fat 1/4's.
Cut your blocks 18" to start with.
Eight are cut once on the diagonal for the star points.
Four background squares are cut once on the diagonal.
The other four background pieces are used for
the corner squares.
Do not cut these.

Lay out your "parts" to get the star pattern then sew the triangles together, either with another star print or a background piece.
You now have 9 blocks.
Trim everybody up to fit the 1/2 square blocks.
(around 16.5" - 17")
Sew together in rows to create your star.
So, so simple, and a great way to use some fat 1/4's you don't want to cut into tiny pieces.
I'll be making a bunch of these for Christmas gifts!

I used her backing for the quilting inspiration.
An all-over swirl design with some circles thrown in randomly.

Another scrappy binding...

Both of them bound & ready to go home to be snuggled under.
Thanks, Lexie, for letting me quilt them.
You inspire me!
