They all scratch their heads and say, "OK".
He gets home and says, "I brought you a present." I know he's been at the very old and very dirty VFW hall cleaning and I can only imagine what he's bringing me.
But, he does know me very well.
And in the back of the pick-up is THIS:
Holy macaroni...
I believe it's an old church bench. My husband says, "We can paint it."
GASP!!! Green is my favorite color! It stays green...period.
So I grab my little antique enamel bucket and start scrubbing.
Then I snag my favorite green quilt, (I know you've already seen it but certain "loves" are worth seeing over and over), and toss it on the back.
They were meant to be together - so pretty.
I love everything about it! Look at that gouge to the left of my quilt. And they simply painted over it!
Thank you, my sweet husband...I do love old things!
Great find! :)
ReplyDeleteI know - just send the husband out and look what he comes home with - yay!
DeleteYour quilt looks fabulous on your new bench! What a guy!!

ReplyDeleteAnd who knew he would find it in the basement of a very old building - yay!
DeleteI sort of laughed at your husband's reasoning: "sort of" because, well, my husband says the same sort of things....all the time, usually about me, they're generally true. Anyhoo, I am JEALOUS and not just a little bit!
ReplyDeleteAren't husbands the funniest people? super lucky me!
DeleteWhat a great find! And a great gift. I want a church pew someday. :) Your quilt looks lovely with it.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a church pew - seriously - just didn't think I'd ever have one or a place to put it. Thanks for the compliments!

DeleteYour hubby found you a fabulous treasure!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amy - he did! Wish I had a bunch more to share...
DeleteWhat a good hubby! I, too, love old things. I tell my husband that's a good thing because he is older (12 years!) than me.
ReplyDeleteI think old things are sometimes better than new things....snickering at your comment! I agree!!!
DeleteThe bench in itself is wonderful but with your beautiful quilt? Perfection Kathy!!! Lucky you!!
ReplyDeleteOh, Cathy - thank you. It's such a simple quilt but honestly one of my favorites! The backing has green olives on it...funny!
DeleteThis is wonderful! I love the bench, I love the quilt, and I love Dan-O as always! Send him here next time he has an old find, okay?
ReplyDeleteI'll tell him - that way we can plan another trip to Michigan - yay!
DeleteThat is so awesome that you got a church bench...and green!
ReplyDeleteI'd love one of those for my front porch too, but I'd have to paint mine red :)
Peggy in NJ
Well - in its next life it will be red! Probably by the end of the summer!
