Double Wedding Ring wedding quilt...

This adorable couple got married last year.
This is my son, Gavin, and his pretty wife, Brooke.

"I DO".....

What a cute little family....

Brooke has always wanted a "Double Wedding Ring" quilt - so.....I made one for her.

I decided to use the "Metro Rings" pattern by Sew Kind of Wonderful.

It was so fun to make.....I have one cut out for myself, too.

Making progress......

The rings are coming together.

I'm in love with this backing - Fabric.com...get it here.

Brooke requested a grey background, turquoise and apricot corners, and vintage type rings.
I used my Denyse Schmidt stash for the rings.

I kept it simple - stippled the entire quilt and added a pretty feather in the outer border.

It's a queen size - about 90" x 108"....80 blocks.

All bound & headed to Alaska - where they are stationed.
Yes, I hugged it and filled it with love before I sent it.
I love you....

Cowboy Metro Rings

A local ranchers wife contacted me for a commissioned Double Wedding Ring quilt.
She wanted to give it as a gift to some friends of hers.
These friends make cowboy hats for a living.
(There's probably a fancy term for "cowboy hat making" but I don't know it!)
She wanted some cowboy hat prints along with other
western prints.
Because I don't have time to piece quilts for others, I contacted my friend, Andrea, from Pennsylvania who pieces quilt tops for others.
You can read about her process on this quilt here.

I'm so glad she's my friend - for so many reasons!
She always does such beautiful work - she's my gal!
She suggested the Sew Kind of Wonderful pattern,
Metro Rings (PDF Pattern)

Perfect!
Here is the result.
Andrea pieced the top, sent it to me, then I added this blue border.

The customer wanted a "puffy" quilt
so I used
a 9 oz. polyester batting.

I quilted a simple stipple in the center and
straight lined the border.

The intersections got a curved outline.

Cowboy hats for the backing - perfect!

I used a solid black for the binding.

She loved it!

Makes me want to get cutting/piecing on my own!
I love this pattern...

Red 'n White - just in time for Christmas...

Carla, living in Washington, sent me this stunning red and white double wedding ring quilt.

It was intended for her son's wedding.....um....a few years ago!
Her daughter-in-law got to pick the pattern and colors.  (lucky girl)
But isn't it worth the wait?
I will probably never, in my life time, make a double wedding ring quilt.
I love them, but I just don't have the patience.
And who doesn't love a red and white quilt?
They are timeless!
The back is a pretty white on white dot swirl print.

I quilted a pretty all-over design.

I didn't want to take away from the piecing.
LOVE the scalloped edge.

She asked me to bind it - all finished and ready to give to the bride & groom!
An absolute gift of love.....*sigh*
