Double Wedding Ring wedding quilt...

This adorable couple got married last year.

This is my son, Gavin, and his pretty wife, Brooke.

 

"I DO".....

 

 

What a cute little family....

 

 

Brooke has always wanted a "Double Wedding Ring" quilt - so.....I made one for her.

 

 

I decided to use the "Metro Rings" pattern by Sew Kind of Wonderful.

 

 

It was so fun to make.....I have one cut out for myself, too.

Brooke requested a grey background, turquoise and apricot corners, and vintage type rings.

I used my Denyse Schmidt stash for the rings.

 

 

I kept it simple - stippled the entire quilt and added a pretty feather in the outer border.

 

 

It's a queen size - about 90" x 108"....80 blocks.

 

 

All bound & headed to Alaska - where they are stationed.

Yes, I hugged it and filled it with love before I sent it.

2 finishes.....Lone Star & Single Girl

I've been wanting to make this quilt for a few years now.

It's "Single Girl" by Denyse Schmidt.

I decided to use some of my Denyse Schmidt fabrics that I've been collecting.

 

 

Here's a peak through my cute iron bed frame...it's very old and I love it! 

 

 

My bed frame is a full size so this queen size quilt drapes really nicely.

 

 

I quilted a simple swirl with pebbles design in the solid areas and straight-ish lines on the rings.

 

 

I purchased the backing, "Sparse Floral", from Hawthorne Threads - it's a Denyse Schmidt print, too, along with the binding.

I really love DS prints and wanted an entire quilt out of them.

I'm so happy with the results and I would definitely make this quilt again.

 

 

You know how I love Lone Stars.....

 

I made this one out of happy prints from my stash.

I had several yards of the green henna garden and wanted it for the background. 

 

The backing is one of my favorites "finds" to date - Free Fall from Tula Pink.

I purchased mine from Hawthorne Threads, again!  (I love this place!!!)

It comes in several color ways so the creamcicle was perfect for my colorful quilt.

 

It made me happy to use this cute pink DS eyelet print for the binding.

I feels SO good to get a couple of quilts finished and on my beds! 

 

 

"Spin Cycle" with Denyse Schmidt prints

I finally finished a quilt of my own!

It was several years in the making, but it's finished!

I'm so happy with it!

It's a Cluck Cluck Sew pattern, "Spin Cycle". 

You can find it here, along with all of Allison's other amazing patterns. 

This is one of those patterns that I could make at least a dozen quilts out of......I love it that much!

 

 

I used all Denyse Schmidt prints - one of my favorite designers.

I quilted rows of single loops - one of my favorite quilting designs.

 

 

Love this old fence.  It's right next door to our home......at Channels Ranch.

I made my quilt just a little larger than the original pattern - 30 blocks - and added some extra sashing.

 

 

As I was taking pictures, these two beauties came over to see what was going on.

 

I think she was just looking for an apple treat - I'll bring them one tomorrow.

 

 

 

I used a couple of different prints for the backing - Denyse Schmidt's "Hope Valley",

then added a scrappy binding.

 

 

I love my quilt so much - so does my pretty chestnut neighbor!

 

 

This quilt was the inspiration for my barn quilt I posted about a couple of years ago.

It still hangs on my shed - I love it!

 

 

Amy's DS quilt...

Yes, she had me at Denyse Schmidt! 

Amy, from Idaho, made this beautiful quilt for her mom.

 

 

She used the DS Chicopee line of fabrics. 

 

 

Amy asked me to quilt pretty flowers and loops all over - it's so feminine.

 

 

This backing piece is one of my favorite pieces from this line.

 

 

Amy also chose wool batting - it's incredibly soft and drapes beautifully and is a bit puffy.

 

 

It looks like stars floating in clouds - who wouldn't love this quilt?

scrappy trip - finally!

It seems to have taken me an entire year to finally finish my daughter's scrappy trip quilt.

I love this pattern!

 

 

Every time I quilt one for a customer I say to myself, "I need to finish at least one for myself."

Well, with a little help from my friend, Trish, I was able to finish this one.

 

 

She sewed up at least half of my blocks for me -

thank you, Trish!

My daughter likes brighter colors so this was perfect for her.

And I like the zig-zag setting.

 

 

I had exchanged 2.5" strips with a friend in Virginia, "hi" Sherry.

As I quilted this quilt I recognized some of her fabrics - which makes it even more special.

I had this cute orange print fabric for the backing.

 

 

I used a Denyse Schmidt green plaid for the binding.

 

 

 

 I quilted it in an all-over swirl pattern. 

 

 

 

Together, Trish & I sewed up 64 blocks.

It's set 8 across and 8 down - 96" square.

 

 

I could hear the squeal all the way from Arizona when she opened it!

 

 

I guess she loves it!

Thanksgiving table runner

I wanted to make a simple table runner for Thanksgiving this year.

 

 

So I went to my Denyse Schmidt stash and pulled a couple of my favorite prints - actually, they are ALL my favorites!

They reminded me of leaves in the fall.

 

Here's my process:

I cut the center, 18" x 36".   (I didn't want to piece the backing)

The borders are cut 3" - I used 4 strips.  (again, I didn't want to piece the strips)

I quilted simple "long L's" in the border and small waves in the center.

 

 

I love the backing! 

 

 

 

Cute binding - I used 3 1/2 - 2.5" strips.
(it's from her Florence collection)

 

 

mmmmmmm -  pumpkin pie almonds - Thank you, Costco!

 

 

My little vintage glass jar holds my almonds all snuggly!
