pillows

I have several pillows I just want to share with you.
Some of them I made, others were made by my friends.
I made this one for my friend, Brook.
She has it on her bed with a red & white quilt.
I got the inspiration from the Red Pepper Quilts blog.

This is the backing I used.....love Aneela Hoey prints!
This one is Sherbet Pips.

Ticking makes beautiful pillows - simple & durable.
My friend, Kathleen, at Hens & Daisies, made this one for me.
She loves ticking about as much as I do!

She also makes these vintage seed packet pillow covers.

I had to have both of them!
Check out her Etsy shop, here.

I made this sweet 30's print mini spider web pillow.

A close-up of the "kids" print I used for the centers.
Here's a link to the tutorial on a mini spider web block.

Brook - yes, the same friend - made me this hand embroidered pillow.

Her embroidery work is perfection!
I love it so much....

Another ticking pillow along with a chenille pillow.
Kathleen made my ticking pillow cover and I added the chenille one.
The more you wash ticking the softer it becomes.

I love pillows!

winter pillow...

I was looking for a winter pillow cover and I knew my friend, Kathleen, from Kathy's Cottage, had one.
She did a perfect job on the design.
It just so happened to be snowing the day I finished the pillow form so I had to go outside to snap a photo of it.
Kathleen does a beautiful job - it has a darling dot binding and a zipper on the back for inserting a pillow form.
And she is so delightful to work with.

Here is her Etsy shop, Hens in Daisies.
Even though it's so cold outside, this pillow makes me warm inside.
Thank you, Kathleen, I love it!

snowmen...

My sweet friend in Mississippi, Trish, of Notes of Sincerity, sent me this darling little house ornament.
I love her choice of little bity snow people fabric.
Darling!

The back...
thank you, Miss Trish!

My sister, LeAnn, sent another Christmas pillow - my heart smiled when I got this one.
It is still sitting on my bench in the hallway.

I have to get out my little snowman pot that my friend, Tammy, made me at least 15 years ago!

This popcorn has a KICK to it.
I brought it to my Open Sew class at the high school tonight.
SNAP - it was gone just like that!

I love my snowman pot....

Here's the recipe:

2 tsp. vegetable oil
1 cup unpopped popcorn kernels
Pop the popcorn on the stove top.
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Line 2 baking sheets with foil & spray with cooking oil.
Cook on stovetop 3 cups sugar, 3 cubes (1 1/2 cups) butter and 3/4 cup light corn syrup.  Cook until sugar is dissolved and mixture almost turns a very light brown.  Turn off heat and add 3 tsp. course salt and 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper.
Pour over popped popcorn in very large bowl.  Stir until coated and divide on to your baking sheets.
Bake @ 250 degrees, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes.
You can also add some roasted nuts!
enjoy!
