planting

I'm actually not very good at all the planting, watering, growing, expecting lots and lots of produce, thing.
But, I found this sealed can I had gotten a couple of years ago while living in Idaho, and thought, "hey, why not?"

Inside the can were about 15 little baggies full of a variety of seeds, just waiting to be planted.

It also came with these instructions - whew!  Good thing!

So on a recent trip to town I purchased this seed starter kit - notice it says, "Jiffy"?
And I was just sure I needed these cute little garden gloves.

On some of the seed packets it said, "...germination: 6-8 weeks"...
BUT - this is only ONE week in!
Oh dear....it was still so cold outside!

Healthy little guys - but I'm thrilled!
I just might have some actual produce this year!
How does your garden grow???

  1. Good luck with your garden :) Do you have an outside bed prepared? Square foot gardening might be a consideration for the seeds you're growing :)

    1. Hi Liz - I have an old dog kennel that we've converted into a small garden bed. (keeps out the wildlife who LOVE anything growing). I'll get these little guys planted outside and hope for the best!!! Thanks for the comment!

  2. I love gardening! I've had a greenhouse since the 70's and always start my own flower and vegetable plants from seed so I get the variety I want. Good luck with your plants......there's nothing better than picking fresh veggies from the garden.......except finishing a quilt and sending it to you!! :-)

  3. I think you know a couple of someone's in Cameron that can help you out if you get stuck. I am always amazed at what my parents grow in that greenhouse of theirs.

  4. The deer and antelope would love us even more if we planted a garden. Sacrificing my sweet peas last fall was enough for me!

    1. Puts you right over that cliff, eh??? That's what we experienced in Idaho so I gave up! Hoping the enclosed dog kennel/greenhouse will do the trick this time - I'll share if it works!
