These little fleece blankets are the easiest bunch of softness to make!
I purchased 1 1/2 yards of fleece.
54" x 60".
The perfect size for a little one to snuggle up with.
First - cut off all selvages.
I wanted to bind it so I made some bias binding out of 3/4 yards of contrasting fabric.
(it needs to be bias if you want to round the corners like I did)
I used a small plate for my rounded corner pattern.
Just rotary cut around each corner.
Sew the binding on the wrong side of the fleece the first time.
Then flip it over and sew it down on the front.
You're finished!
This cute little blanket is for our 3 year-old granddaughter, Olivia.
She loves pink!
My tree is shushing me - Miss Olivia doesn't know it's coming in the mail to her for Christmas!
It took me maybe one hour to complete this cute blanket.
Are you ready for Christmas?
I love that fabric! In fact I think I might have some in a different color way, or at least very very similar. Darling project!
ReplyDeleteI love this piece, too. Perfect for a cute blanket! thanks....
DeleteI love that you bound this instead of cut strips around the outer edge! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteI know - I get a little tired of the bulky tied ones.
DeleteI always forget the cute thing to make w/ fleece when it's 70% off at Joann's!!! This is darling. Hope I never forget this.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's why you stock up on fleece when it's 70% off!!!
DeleteMerry Christmas, my friend.....xxoo
Such a cute idea!! One lucky little girl!
ReplyDeleteHold on, sweetie, your girls will be getting one.....soon! xxoo
DeleteAdorable! I usually see fleece blankets just fringed but I like this look so much better. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteBoughtt my fleece at Joanns today. What type fabric is your binding? I gave my presents wrapped in pillowcases this year. Margot's, age 4, was "Frozen" fabric. She loved it, but her comment was "Burmer, I don't have a 'Frozen' quilt though." Hoping she'll settle for a fleece blankie instead.
ReplyDeleteIt's just good old 100% cotton fabric for the binding. I bet they loved their pillowcases! 'Frozen' fleece is really cute - that's what mine are getting next month!
Deletethanks Kathy.....I was thinking flannel might work too. Licensed fleece wasn't on sale, but used my 50% off coupon so it's wasn't too bad.
ReplyDeleteJust need to say AGAIN....how much I love this idea. Just bought a bunch of baseball fleece for a blanket for a certain baseball lover in my family!! Love you Scottie Jean!!!
