Ronda's "General's Wives" quilts - a beauty!

Ronda, from Idaho, sent me this absolutely beautiful "The General's Wives" quilt a while ago.
It's so gorgeous!
I love the Civil War prints she used.
She had Andrea, of "Andrea Quilts", piece it for her.
Andrea's work is near perfection - she loves piecing quilt tops for others.  Just contact her through her lovely blog here.

I wanted to give each section of this lovely quilt it's own quilting design.

I used wool batting - so soft and allows those sections to "show off".

Pretty red floral print.

The center block - appliqued stars.

Ronda's backing is a simple shirting print - perfect.
(I love quilting feathers)

An over-all "fluer" design.

I attached the binding for Ronda to hand finish it.

Such a beautiful quilt - thank you for letting me add a 'bit' to it!

mother - daughter quilting together...

One of my customer's, Michelle, from California, spent some serious sewing time with her 9-year old daughter.
This is the result of that serious mother/daughter time together:

A little Christmas quilt!
It's Lori Holt's "Quilty Little Christmas" scrappy sew along.
What a cute little snow guy.

I quilted snowy swirls in the red outer border.

This is my favorite section -the little bows on the wreaths that stand up - darling!

I had so much fun quilting each section different.....
Can you believe her 9-year old pieced this little cutie?
Nice job!!!

This one was created by Michelle.

It's a Barbara Brackman, Civil War quilt.

Michelle wanted quilting that was conducive to that time era.
It's so pretty.
I love the colors she used.

Thank you, Michelle and Lindsay, for letting me add to your creations.
Keep sewing, Lindsay!

Sandy's Civil War beauty

My friend, Sandy, from Arizona, made this stunning quilt using Civil War prints.
She makes quilts for everyone else and finally finished one for herself.

You can see why she decided to keep this one.
It's so beautiful.
The blocks are about 10" finished - all set on point!

All those ity bity 1/2 squares - I would probably lose my mind after making them!
She does beautiful piece work - all the points are visible!

It was such fun to quilt - I spent several hours with this beauty.
I cross-hatched the center over all the blocks....

Then I played with the borders.
(this is a setting triangle section)

I have scads of Civil War fabrics....just waiting and waiting for me to do something with them.

Fabulous quilt, Sandy.
Thank you for letting me "add to the beauty" of it.

Granny Squares

Michelle, from California, made this very pretty Granny Squares quilt for her daughter.
She plans on entering it in the fair in August.

Here are a few photos of some of my favorite color combinations:

Michelle used some reds, pinks, mustard yellows, and green Civil War prints.

I quilted an orange peel design on the pieced Granny Square blocks.

 (free-hand orange peels...uh, huh)

I swirled the background areas.

I like how the orange peel design leaves a secondary circle design.

Oh - the pink border fabric.....love!

I quilted a pretty feather in that pink border.

The backing.....I like how the pink orange peels just barely show up.

I love this quilt!

Thank you, Michelle - I loved every single minute of quilting this one!
I believe it deserves a big blue ribbon!!!
Are any of you working on a county/state fair quilt to enter this fall?

civil war quilting

My friend, Jami - from Idaho, makes the most beautiful quilts using Civil War prints.
They have little bunkhouses on their property and she now has a personally made quilt for each bed.
She has designed most of these lovely quilts and her work is flawless!
Sit back and enjoy the show!

This is her 16-patch/pinwheel quilt.
I quilted feathers in the pinwheels and cross-hatched the 16-patch's.

Beautiful!

The backing...

Borders on another quilt - ric-rac, ribbons and swirl feathers:

This was one of my favorite borders - string blocks.
She started each center with a black print - gives it that zig-zag look.

This is a simple vertical row quilt.
I cross-hatched the pieced rows and feathered the solid rows.

I have my own stash (3 tubs - oh my!) of civil war prints....waiting to be cut into and made into something
Civil War-ish!

Thank you, Jamie, for letting me quilt these beautiful quilts for your bunkhouses!
